Coach Geno captures 15U Federation crown

Coach Geno Foundation captured the 2025 George B. Kelley Federation 15U championship by sweeping its best-of-three finals series with VFW Post No. 3, thanks to an 11-2 win at Geesey Park on Saturday.

It was the third straight title for the group of players.

Carter McConnell went 5ª innings, allowing just one run while striking out nine. Brayden Pike led the offense with three hits, including two doubles, Lex Hainsey drove in two runs with two hits, and Caleb Lawther and Liam Jancula each had two hits.

Anthony Riccio supplied the offense for VFW Post No. 3 by smacking two solo homers.

Davison wins title

Davison Snack Company won the 2025 George B. Kelley Federation 13U championship on Saturday with a 17-7 win over Oldschool Print and Embroidery.

Davison swept the best-of-three finals series.

Brennan Kirsch drove in four runs for Davison, Gunner Smith had two hits and three RBIs, Ty Davis delivered three hits and two RBIs, Michael Miller had two hits and two RBIs, and Keagyn Cassidy added three hits.

Austin Kirksey drove in four runs for Oldschool.

Altoona 18U 1-0

OCALA, Fla. — Altoona rallied for two runs with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning — after losing a 5-2 lead in the top half of the seventh — to earn a 7-6 win over Wharton (Texas) in its opening-game of the Babe Ruth Baseball 16-18 World Series on Sunday.

Altoona, now 1-0, will face 2-0 Hanford (Calif.) today at 4 p.m. as it continues pool play.

Trailing 6-5 heading to the bottom of the seventh and with two outs, EJ Ulery singled and advanced to second on Cayden Gibbons’ single. Jay Albarano then singled to score Ulery, and Caden Gibbons followed with a single to left field to score Cayden Gibbons with the winning run.

Altoona scored three runs in the bottom of the first — Dante LaRocco scored on a wild pitch, Albarano had an RBI groundout that scored Brady Steiner, and courtesy runner Leland Baer scored on a Caden Gibbons single. Altoona added two more runs on errors in the second and held a 5-2 lead until Wharton scored four in the top of the seventh.

Cayden Gibbons had three hits for Altoona, and LaRocco, Albarano and Caden Gibbons each had two. Rocky Ruiz drove in three runs for Wharton.
