JOHNSTOWN — Johnstown’s Mainline Pharmacy topped Johnstown’s Martella’s Pharmacy, 5-0, Saturday night in front of 3,004 fans at Sargent’s Stadium at the Point to earn the championship in the 80th AAABA National Tournament.

It was the first meeting of two Johnstown teams in the AAABA Tournament title game since the tourney began regularly including two of the host city’s teams in 2009.

Altoona’s Erik Rhodes went 1-for-4 for Mainline with a double and a run scored.

Mainline starting pitcher Josh Bryson threw seven scoreless innings, having a no-hitter through 4ª innings. The right-hander struck out seven and walked two.

Lefty Chase Williamson threw two scoreless innings in relief.

Cayden Turner and Conner McTighe each had two hits for Mainline. Everett’s Calvin Iseminger added a double.

Mainline left fielder Brody Roberts took tournament MVP honors after batting .444 (12-for-27) with three RBIs, nine runs and four stolen bases on four attempts. Johnstown second baseman Teague Hoover tied New Brunswick’s Derek Smail for the RBI title, with 10 apiece.

Buffalo won the Sportsmanship Award.

Jared Dowey had two hits for Martella’s.

Mainline Pharmacy also won the AAABA Tournament championship in 2023. Martella’s Pharmacy won Johnstown’s first-ever AAABA crown in 2018.

Mainline’s only loss in the tournament was to Altoona’s Cumming Motors.
