VFW Post No. 3 forced a third and deciding game with Gority Brothers Construction in the George B. Kelley Baseball Federation 15U semifinals with a 13-0, five-inning victory on Wednesday at Geesey Park.

Toby Lynch fired a three-hit shutout for VFW, Carter Gibson went 3-for-4, Joshua Starr went 2-for-2 with four RBIs, Ryan Knab drove in four, and Anthony Riccio went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

Game 3 is slated for today at Geesey at 5:30 with the winner advancing to the finals to face Coach Geno Foundation, which won its semifinal series over Blaise Alexander, two games to none, with a forfeit win Wednesday.

Chamber sets PSU event

The Blair County Chamber Breakfast Club is hosting a media panel to preview the Penn State football season on Thursday, Aug. 14 at the Blair County Convention Center.

The program, from 7:45 to 9 a.m., will feature the Mirror’s Neil Rudel, Sports Central talk show host Cory Giger and Steve Jones, the longtime radio play-by-play voice of the Nittany Lions.

Attendees are encouraged to wear white and make it a Blair County White Out.

Cost is $25 for Blair County Chamber members and $35 for non-members and includes a full breakfast buffet.

One lucky person in attendance will receive four tickets with a parking pass to the PSU season opener (vs. Nevada) on Aug. 30.
