Tyler Steiner wins RidgeRunner Junior Tour event at Sinking Valley Country Club

TYRONE — Several youth golfers took part in the RidgeRunner Junior Tour event at Sinking Valley Country Club on Tuesday.

Tyler Steiner carded a 76 to win the 18-hole Division. The runner-up was Elie Filer’s score of 84 followed by Carter Boland’s 85 and Sam McLanahan’s 86.

In the Nine-Hole Division, Nora Faught’s 52 edged Mikayla Durbin’s 53 for medalist honors, and Lucy Faught was third with a 56.

Scotch Valley

HOLLIDAYSBURG — The team of Jason Wagner, Bob Strawser, Alex May and Charles Sweesy shot a 56 and won the championship at the UPMC golf scramble at Scotch Valley Country Club after a card-off over Christine Perein, Joe Reed, Justin Kobuck and Ken Powers.

The event also honored the 16th-place team, which shot a 73 — David Bacci, Kurt Fink, Ricky Cruise and Terry McClemens, who also finished 16th through a card-off.

Huntingdon

HUNTINGDON — Through five weeks in the first cycle, the teams of Bob Lamey and Geoff Clarke and Ed Gargula and Alan Herbster are each 3-2 to lead the Big Orange Golf League at Huntingdon Country Club.

In the fifth week, Clarke had the low gross with a 41, and Huggler had the low net with a 37.

Frank Ieraci, who was substituting for Phil Thompson, had the shot of the day with a birdie putt on No. 13.
