ALEXANDRIA — The Juniata Valley boys and girls both finished in third place at the Juniata Valley Invitational competing against Mount Union, Southern Huntingdon and West Branch Thursday in high school track and field play.

Ella McCrum was the outstanding runner award as the Lady Hornet captured first in the 800, 1600 and 3200 runs.

The JV boys finished with 46 points, while Southern won with 94, followed by Mount Union with 61 and West Branch was fourth with 32.

On the girls side, the JV girls had 46 points, while the Lady Rockets were first with 110 followed by the Lady Warriors with 50 and the Lady Trojans finished in fourth place with 38.

Trenton Norris, who claimed first in the javelin, and second in both the shot put and discus for the Green Hornets, won the outstanding thrower award.

Caizon Scott of Mount Union was the boys outstanding runner; outstanding girls thrower was Chloe Hollway (Southern Huntingdon); and Hayley Sunderland and Eli Rice, both of Southern Huntingdon, were selected outstanding jumpers.

NBC duo shine

LOYSBURG — Savanna Hershberger claimed three individual wins and was part of a relay winner to lead the Northern Bedford girls to a 91-61 victory over Windber.

The Black Panthers suffered a 92-51 loss to the Ramblers.

Hershberger claimed the 800, 1600 and 3200 runs, while also teaming up to win the 3200 relay race.

Bella Gable captured the shot put and discus for the Lady Panthers.

Weston Hart was the lone double winner for the NBC boys by taking first in the 1600 and 3200 runs.
