HARRISBURG — Altoona exploded for five runs in the first inning and went on to defeat Central Dauphin, 7-1, Saturday in a high school baseball game.
Winning pitcher Gavin Albright pitched into the seventh inning and struck out six. Tanner Stroup recorded the final three outs. Albright and Will Sankey each collected two hits for Altoona while Eric McAllister drove in two runs.

PC rallies
CRESSON — Penn Cambria rallied past Bishop Guilfoyle Academy, 8-4, with a six-run bottom of the fifth inning Saturday in high school baseball.
Corbin Vinglish had a two-run single during the big inning, and Ayden Himmer earned the win in relief — surrendering no runs for the Panthers. Caden Gibbons had two hits and two RBIs for Penn Cambria.
Jesse Georgiana tripled for the Marauders, and Rocco Cacciotti had two hits.

Altoona wins two
CAMP HILL — Altoona finished a 9-4 victory over Cedar Cliff from a game that was started on April 15 and then won the regularly scheduled game, 14-4, in high school softball action Saturday.
Charli Schneider went the distance for Altoona, earned the win and struck out nine in the first game. Skyler Reed, the winning pitcher in the second game, went 3-for-3 at the plate in the first game.
Natalie Baker and Bridget Delozier each had three hits for Altoona in the second game, and Jayda Yost hit her third career home run.

Altoona third
PITTSBURGH — Altoona’s boys volleyball team finished third out of seven teams at the Shaler Varsity Volleyball Invitational after falling, 25-12, to North Allegheny in the semifinals on Saturday.
Altoona defeated Saegertown, 25-21, in the quarterfinals.
Lukas Weathersbee had 20 kills, 15 digs and a block for the Lions. Nino Yohn had 45 digs, and Caleb Terza finished with 48 assists for Altoona.
In pool play, Meadville topped Altoona, 25-7, as did Shaler (25-12), North Allegheny (25-11) and Saegertown (25-10). Altoona defeated Cochranton, 25-16, and Penn-Trafford, 25-22.
