The Altoona boys volleyball team improved to 3-8, thanks to a 15-25, 25-12, 25-12, 25-20 win over Central at the Fieldhouse.

The Mountain Lions got 11 kills from Lukas Weathersbee, 26 assists from Caleb Terza, 22 digs from Nino Yohn, 11 digs from Logan Coldwell, seven kills from Luke Mitchell and five kills from Kallen Plunket.

Altoona also got 13 service points from Parker Huey-Kish, 11 from Terza and 10 from Weathersbee.

Central (6-4) got nine kills from Christian Heuston, eight from Bryson Brooks,13 digs from Blake Reynolds and 29 assists from Logan Hummel.

Eagles soar

TYRONE — The Tyrone boys and girls track and field teams defeated Juniata Valley, with the boys winning 125-23 and girls earning a 116-25 victory Thursday.

Cian Hockenberry won the shot put and discus for the Eagles, while teammate Alex Brumbaugh finished tops in the 800 and 1600.

On the girls side, Juniata Valley’s Ella McCrum won the 800, 1600 and 3200 runs. For Tyrone, Josie Dicken won the discus and shot put while teammate Nicole Ramsey won the 100, the long jump and triple jump.
