50 years ago: March 20, 1975 — East End beat the Buccinese Society, 72-69, to win the St. Luke’s Senior Recreation League basketball title. Steve St. John scored 19 points and Sam Parks 18 for the winners. Eddie Miller had 30 for East End.
35 years ago: March 20, 1990 — Matt Baker of Williamsburg High School (22.4 points a game) and Kathy Geis of Bellwood-Antis High (1500 total points) were named most valuable players in the Juniata Valley Basketball League.
10 years ago: March 20, 2015 — The 1965 Northern Cambria High School basketball team celebrated the 50th anniversary of the school’s only state title to date, beating Montrose, who had a 59-game winning streak, 78-69. Greg Kuhn of Michigan, who averaged 25 points a game, attended, along with starters Ken Anderson, Frank Frontino and Joe and Tony Nastasi.
