Local swimmers in national meets
HOLLIDAYSBURG — Two Blair Regional YMCA Tigershark swimmers recently qualified for national competitions.
Blair Regional’s Kaden Henderson, 16, qualified for the YMCA National Short Course Championship held in Greensboro, N.C. on March 31-April 4.
Henderson achieved qualifying times in the 100-yard butterfly (51.84), 100 breaststroke (58.39) and 100 backstroke (53.74). While in Greensboro, he will also swim four time-trial events in the 50 freestyle, 100 free, 200 free and 200 individual medley.
Blair Regional’s Patrick Van Kleunen, 14, qualified for the USA Swimming Eastern Zone Short Course Age Group Championship held in Webster, N.Y. April 2-5.
Van Kleunen qualified in the 100 backstroke (58.08) and will also swim bonus events in the 50 free, 100 free and 200 backstroke.
Altoona nets win
LEWISTOWN — Altoona dropped only the second doubles match in a 4-1 win over Mifflin County in high school boys tennis action on Tuesday.
Dylan Batrus, Owen Wasovich and Jude Brunhuber claimed singles wins, while the team of Avery Lanzendorfer and Aiden Aiken came out on top in the first doubles match.

Tyrone beaten
CLEARFIELD — Wyatt Walls won at the No. 1 singles spot to account for the only Tyrone win in a 4-1 loss to Clearfield in high school boys tennis.

AAHS spikers edged
CHAMBERSBURG — Altoona dropped the first set (25-21), then captured the next two (25-22, 25-23) before falling in the last two (25-13 and 15-9) in a 3-2 loss to Chambersburg in high school boys volleyball.
Lukas Weathersbee fronted the Mountain Lions with 18 kills, 10 service points and eight digs, while Luke Mitchell tallied 15 kills and 13 digs, and Caleb Terza recorded 40 assists and nine digs.
Nino Yohn amassed 27 digs and Logan Coldwell finished with 10 for Altoona.
