TYRONE — Tyrone’s boys track and field team topped Homer-Center, 109-37 and downed West Branch, 145-0. On the girls side, Tyrone beat Homer-Center, 113-19, and West Branch, 113-28, in high school action Thursday.

Caleb Whitby won three events for Tyrone — the 100 dash, long jump and pole vault. Isaiah Suhoney won both hurdles, Drew Irons won the 100- and 200-meter dashes (he tied Whitby in a different heat) and Tommy Sutt won the 1600 and 3200 for the Golden Eagles.

Sarah Chichester won the 100- and 200-meter dashes, and Nicole Ramsey won the long and triple jump for the Lady Eagles.

Tigers pick up victories

HOLLIDAYSBURG — Emily Clapper won the 400-meter run and long jump, Kate Steiner won the 100- and 300-meter hurdles and Elizabeth Frazier won the 100- and 200-meter dashes to help Hollidaysburg’s girls track and field team top Portage, 117-32, and Penn Cambria, 114-32.

Portage defeated Penn Cambria, 76-61.

On the boys side, Hollidaysburg also won two — 116-32 over Penn Cambria and 117-31 over Portage — and the Mustangs edged Penn Cambria, 69-63, with the help of a record-breaking performance by Portage senior Bode Layo, who cleared 6 feet, 5 inches in the high jump for a new school mark.
