MECHANICSBURG — The Altoona Area High School track and field teams opened the season by splitting a meet with Cumberland Valley on Tuesday.

The girls prevailed, while the boys lost a close 81-69 decision.

Hannah Owulade captured the 100-meter hurdles, long jump and triple jump for the Lady Lions, while Kihlee Noel took home first in the shot put and discus.

Double winners for the Mountain Lions were Xavier Midder (110 hurdles and triple jump), Branson Adams (high and long jumps) and MJ Harrington (shot put and javelin)

Bellwood goes 1-1

WINGATE — The Bellwood-Antis boys and girls both went 1-1 against Bald Eagle Area and Bellefonte.

The boys came out with an 84-66 win over BEA, and then lost 75-75 to Bellefonte as the Red Raiders won on the second tiebreaker.

The girls lost to the Lady Raiders, 80-70, but defeated the Lady Eagles, 97-53.

For the Blue Devils, Jayce Quick won the shot put and discus.

The Lady Blue Devils received two wins each for Ella Cherry (100 and 200 dashes) and Chloe Stoltzfus (100 and 300 hurdles)

HOLLIDAYSBURG — The Hollidaysburg boys and girls remained perfect through four meets with wins over Huntingdon and Penns Valley.

The boys cruised to wins over Huntingdon (95-55) and Penns Valley (115-34), while the Bearcats claimed a 90-59 victory over PV.

The Lady Tigers crushed PV (124-26) and rolled past Huntingdon (97-52), while the Lady Bearcats earned a 91-59 victory over PV.

Isaac Yarnell won 100 and 200 dashes for the Tigers, and Emily Clapper (400 dash and long jump) and Adalai Carney (800 and 1600 runs) won twice for the Lady Tigers.
