Bednarksi has big game for Lady Mustangs

NORTHERN CAMBRIA — Sophomore Kendall Bednarski scored a game-high 32 points Tuesday night to lead the Portage girls basketball team to a 63-17 win over Northern Cambria in high school action.

Freshman teammate Mya Burda chipped in with 13 points for the Lady Mustangs (9-6), who led 30-10 at halftime.

Northern Cambria (0-11) got six points from Tayler Pala.

NORTHERN CAMBRIA — Tyrone Christian Academy fell to 0-5 with a 736-565 loss to Northern Cambria in high school rifle action.

AAHS grad shines

Brooke Long, a junior member of the Saint Francis women’s track and field team, was recently named a Prime Performer by the Northeast Conference for her showing at the Nittany Lion Challenge held at Penn State.

Long, an Altoona graduate, finished fourth overall in the women’s long jump with a mark of 5.50 meters.
