Lakemont finals on way

Rainy weather interrupted the Lakemont Park Summer League basketball playoffs on Tuesday, but enough teams got their games in to know their fate for the rest of the week.

In Division 1 play, Spherion beat Hoopsfest, 39-30, in one semifinal game to advance to the finals. Trent Rozich led the winners with 13 points while Drew Shubik was tops for Hoopsfest with 12. Spherion will play Thursday at 7:10 p.m. for the title against the winner of Mama Randazzo’s-Zimmerman’s Excavating & Landscaping. That game is tonight at 6:10.

Both Division 2 semifinals were postponed to tonight. Appalachian Running Company will play Curry Supply at 6:20. Sideline Cancer vs. Thompson Machine Company follows at 7:10. The winners play in the finals Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

In Division 3 play, both semifinals will be played tonight after getting washed out on Tuesday. Rocksolid will play Red Shamrock, while Co“BRH”s’ Green will play John Hill Real Estate. Both games will go at 5:30 p.m. The winners will play each other afterward at 7:10 p.m.

The Division 4 final is set. Railroad City Tattoo beat BTN, 50-43, behind 19 points from Tyler Robinson. Jake McGinnis led GTB with 13 points. RCT will play Lytle’s Transfer in the finals. Lytle’s beat Primerica Financial, 50-46, thanks to 27 points from Josh Settle. Jeremiah Crockett led Primerica with 16 points. The title game is at 6:20 tonight.

Barton’s Plumbing & Heating will play Budget Beverage at 5:30 tonight in the Division 5 title game. Budget beat Miller & Associates, 34-19, thanks to nine points from Ronnie Drinnion. Zach Whited and Zach Zsifkov each had six points for Miller’s. Barton’s downed JP Mortgage Lending, 44-41. Francis Gormish led the winners with 12 points. Ashton Bardell led JP with 11 points.

The high school championship between Altoona and Central is Thursday at 6:20 p.m.
