Cumming drops twinbill on the road

NEW CASTLE — Cumming Motors dropped a twinbill to New Castle on Sunday in Tri-State League baseball action.

In a 10-9 loss, New Castle scored six runs in the bottom of the seventh for a victory. Cumming (14-7) got three hits and two RBIs from Lucas Muffie to go with two hits each from Charlie Bakken and Austin Miller.

Cumming also dropped a 7-5 decision in which it scored four runs over the final two innings to make the game interesting. Aidan Steinbugl had three hits and scored twice for Cumming while Muffie had three hits and an RBI.

n Johnston Realty split a Saturday twinbill in the Tri-State League with New Castle, winning 14-13 in eight innings, while losing 5-0 in the other game at New Castle.

In an extra-inning 14-13 win, Michael Turiano had a monster game, going 5-for-6 with two runs scored and three RBIs. Turiano had two triples and a double among his hits. Brendan Baney and Matt Moyer each added three hits and two RBIs to go with two hits and an RBI each from Ethan Hileman and Josh Morgan.

Johnston won the game with a run in the bottom of the eighth.

In the 5-0 loss, Johnston managed hits from Jake Hunter, Morgan and Kyle Wilson.

BELLWOOD — ReMax Realty improved to 7-5 in the Kelley Federation League Sunday afternoon, thanks to a 20-5, five-inning win over Martin Oil.

Sam Carmel hit a grand slam for ReMax, which led 13-3 going into the bottom of the third inning. Also finishing with multiple hits for ReMax was Hunter Rossman, Blake Nicolini and Nic Folcarelli.

Winning pitcher Zach DeLeo struck out three.

Team Kovac was out-hit, 12-7. Team Detwiler pulled away with five runs in the fifth inning and four more in the sixth.
