Koontz is among Hall of Fame group

EVERETT — The Bedford County Sports Hall of Fame will have its 2022 induction ceremony on Saturday at the Everett Area High School auditorium.

This year’s individual inductees are: Vicki Corle Sasek, Turk Burket, Larry Wright, Kali Byers, Jason Cole, Robert Gribble, Brian Koontz, Jen O’Neal and Ivan Steele.

This year’s teams inductees are: the 1973-74 and 1974-75 Bedford wrestling teams, 1979-83 Chestnut Ridge girls basketball teams, 1990 Everett girls track and field team and the 1982 and 1984 Hyndman girls tennis teams.

The induction ceremony will be divided into two parts. From 1 p.m. until approximately 3 p.m., the Special Recognition Awards, the team inductees, the Bedford Gazette Athletes of the Year and Vicki Corle Sasek will be honored.

The second half of the induction ceremony will start at 4 p.m. and will feature the induction of the other individual inductees (Burket, Wright, Byers, Cole, Gribble, Koontz, O’Neal and Steele).

The ceremony is scheduled to end around 6 p.m. One ticket for the induction is good for both halves of the program. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for students, and free for children under the age of 5. Tickets are only available for purchase at the door.
