Central girls hold off Guilfoyle

Central took a halftime lead that evaporated into a one-goal Bishop Guilfoyle advantage in the second half before the Scarlet Dragons stormed back with goals from Ella Garner and Leah Johnston to top the Lady Marauders, 4-3, at Tom Irwin Field Wednesday in high school girls soccer.

Johnston finished with two goals, and Garner also had an assist for Central, which improved to 12-1.

Lainey Farabaugh had a goal and an assist for Bishop Guilfoyle, which dropped to 9-5.

LOYSBURG — Northern Bedford improved to 10-1-1 with a 5-0 win over Everett.

Reaghan Grimes had two goals for the Lady Panthers. Abby Kline and Mariah Hall each had two assists.

Maurah Shortt scored twice for the Lady Eagles.

Lions lose in OT

Altoona dropped to 6-5 with a 2-1 overtime loss at Mansion Park to Central Mountain on senior night.

The Mountain Lions got a goal from Justin Bossler in the second half.

Seniors honored included Ian Cox, Brayden Crawford, Gavin Lamborn, Ethan Little, John Schmidhmer and Will Young.

Central Mountain improved to 5-10.

Panthers triumph

LOYSBURG — Northern Bedford senior Nate Helsel recorded a shutout on senior night, Reyan Imler converted a penalty kick and Levi Wiedemann sealed the victory with a late goal as the Black Panthers topped Everett, 2-0.

The Panthers, up 1-0 at halftime, improved to 12-1 while Everett fell to 9-7.
