CC golfers beat out BG, McCort by hair

EBENSBURG — In an incredibly close high school boys golf match at Ebensburg Country Club, Central Cambria edged Bishop Guilfoyle on a tiebreaker and defeated Bishop McCort by one stroke, 223-224, Friday. The Marauders also defeated McCort by a stroke.

The Red Devils’ Tony Benko shot a 37, two strokes behind medalist Luke Cascino of McCort. Nate Rice led BG with a 42.

The Central Cambria girls golf team also won, defeating Bishop McCort, 157-208, behind a medalist score of 48 by Jewel Sikora.

- The Tyrone girls volleyball team defeated Penns Valley, 25-22, 18-25, 22-25, 28-26, 17-15 in Spring Mills. Kylee Nelson had 21 service points, and Reagan Irons collected 23 kills and 15 digs.

- The Cambria Heights boys cross country team beat Penns Manor, 18-42, and Homer-Center, 19-42. Brock Eckenrode won the race in 19:07. The Heights girls beat Homer-Center, 23-32, but fell to Penns Manor, 18-41.

- The Central Cambria girls tennis team won a home match over Forest Hills, 4-1, to improve its record to 11-2.
