Coudriet throws gem for Johnston

Local baseball

Gage Coudriet fired a one-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts and no walks to lead Johnston Realty to a 2-0 victory over Furrer/Star Beverage at Juniata in Altoona Greater City Baseball League action on Monday.

Brendan Kuhns had two hits for Johnston, an AAABA team that improved its record to 8-5. Dom Georgiana gave up just six hits for Furrer/Star.

Cumming Motors, an AAABA team, improved its record to 8-1 with a 15-4, five-inning win over Medicine Shoppe at Mansion Park.

Alex Hlivia, Colton Burd, Hunter Klotz, Kevin Lehner and Jeff Hoenstine each had two hits for Cumming with Hoenstine driving in three runs.

Cumming wins again

Cumming Motors beat Pro Fab Solutions, 12-0, in five innings in a later game at Mansion Park as four pitchers combined to throw a one-hitter.

Cumming was helped by 11 walks from Pro Fab pitchers in running its record to 9-1.

Pro Fab fell to 4-13.

Sheetz took the opening game of its best-of-three playoff series with Empower3, winning, 12-10, at Seitz Field in the Altoona Teener Baseball League Major Division playoffs.

Dontae Emerick and Dominic Battisti each had three hits, and Will Sankey and Brody Partner-Gore each had two hits. Emerick drove in four runs, Battisti three and Partner-Gore two.

Vincent Cacciotti hit a home run and drove in four runs for Empower3.

n Paul Wedel blanked Gingrich Insurance as M&T Bank took a 1-0 lead in the two teams’ playoff series with a 2-0 victory at Seitz Field.

M&T scored two runs in the first inning on RBIs from Jay Albarano and Tyler Kerin.

Teener Minor

Eldorado Kiwanis opened the Altoona Teener Baseball League Minor Division playoffs with a 7-3 win over McAbee’s Super Subs at Seitz Field

Caden Gibbons, Titus Shade and Anthony Swander combined on a four-hitter for Kiwanis.

The tournament is double-elimination. In other games, ERA Sports downed Terri Johnson, CPA, 18-8, in five innings, and J&P Auto Mart blanked McMullen Furniture in five innings, 10-0.

The tourney is expected to resume on Thursday with top seed Crafted in Pennsylvania in action.

Herman drove in three runs, and Matt Moyer added two hits and two RBIs.
