City League playoffs set

The regular season in the Altoona Greater City/AAABA Baseball League came to a close on Thursday with Lilly beating Cumming Motors, 12-7, in local action at Juniata.

Lilly goes into the City playoffs at 19-3 while Cumming Motors (17-5) will compete in the area AAABA tournament.

Lilly got three hits and four RBIs from Owen Kravetz as it jumped out to an 8-0 lead after two innings. Teammate Brandon Ickes added two hits to go with three RBIs from Ryan Ickes.

Cumming Motors got three hits and an RBI from Colton Burd to go with two RBIs from Drew Weglarz and two hits from Matt Parks.

Shane Suter got the win with two shutout innings. Jack Johnson didn’t make it out of the second inning and got the loss.

Lilly and Sheetz both have first-round byes. Pro Fab Solutions will play Blair County Oil at 6 tonight, followed by B&M Contracting vs. Medicine Shoppe. Both games are at Vets Field and both series are the best-of-3 format.

The AAABA pairings will be released Sunday.
