Tiger tennis set to play for team championship
HOLLIDAYSBURG — Top-seeded Hollidaysburg advanced to the District 4-6 Class 3A team tennis championship match with a 3-1 win over Altoona in the semifinals on Tuesday.
Nathan Barton, Brian Johnson and Jadd Younes won in straight sets in the three singles matches to clinch the victory. Hollidaysburg, now 18-0, will host Central Mountain in today’s final at 4:30 p.m.
“This was a great team win for our guys,” Hollidaysburg coach Brian Denis said. “We were shorthanded due to COVID, but everybody stepped up and rose to the challenge. Nathan Barton showed why he’s the best player in the area, Jadd Younes played an outstanding match, and Brian Johnson sealed the deal with an awesome second set.”
Altoona’s Kadyn Carey and Mason Crownover won the No. 2 doubles match.

DERRY — Derry downed Bishop Guilfoyle in high school boys volleyball action, 26-24, 25-21, 25-16.
Noah Anderson had 10 kills and seven digs, Nick Anderson had nine kills and seven digs, and Ian Bennett had 23 assists.

Braylon Williams and Nick Hogan combined on a five-inning no-hitter to help Cumming Motors beat Beauchamp Plumbing & Heating, 10-0, in Altoona Teener Baseball League action at Seitz Field on Tuesday.
Hogan went 2-for-3 with four RBIs, and Hayden Tipton had two hits and two RBIs.
