Patterson keys Heights’ win

PATTON — Cambria Heights defeated Bedford, 6-2, thanks to a 3-for-4 day from Nick Patterson with two doubles and two RBIs in high school baseball action on Thursday.

Ty Stockley homered and drove in three for the Highlanders, and Ben Hite contributed a pair of doubles and an RBI.

Jared Dowey doubled and scored for Bedford.

Guilfoyle splits

NEW PARIS — Bishop Guilfoyle split a twinbill with Chestnut Ridge, winning the opener, 6-5, while losing the nighcap, 5-4.

In the victory, BG (9-5) scored twice in the top of the seventh to get the win with Owen Dombrosky driving in what turned out to be the winning run. Austin Beauchamp and Cooper Rother each had two hits and an RBI for BG.

In the nightcap, Guilfoyle got three hits and two RBIs from Dombroski in the loss. Rother added two hits and an RBI.

Tigers trimmed

MILL HALL — Cayde McCloskey’s walk-off sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth inning lifted Central Mountain to a 6-5 win over Hollidaysburg.

Evan Shale went 3-for-3 with an RBI and a double for the Golden Tigers, and Zach Barton tripled. Hollidaysburg appeared to have scored a second run in the top of the eighth inning on a balk, but the base umpire changed his call after speaking with the home plate umpire.

The Golden Tigers took a 3-0 lead in the first inning, but the Wildcats tied the game in the bottom of the seventh and won it with two runs in the eighth.

EBENSBURG — Central Cambria won a pair of games against Central Cambria, both in five innings via the mercy rule.

The Red Devils won the first game, 13-3, and got three hits, including a triple, and four RBIs from Reece Werner. Brady Sheehan added two hits, an RBI and scored three runs. Toby Becquet doubled for the Huskies, and Johnny Golden had a hit and drove in a run.
