Hollidaysburg downs Central in softball slugfest

MARTINSBURG — Zoie Estep, Abigail Steiner and Maria Malone all homered for Hollidaysburg as the Lady Tigers edged Central, 14-13, in high school softball action Thursday.

Steiner, Malone and Sydney Shay all finished with two hits for Hollidaysburg. Malone and Estep each had three RBIs, while Kaelyn Neeley and Olivia Vincent each had two RBIs.

Central got home runs from Madison Kennedy and Lacey Lynn. Stock had four hits to go with three each from Kennedy and Regan Dodson. Lynn added two hits. Stock and Madison Benfer each had three RBIs to go with two from Kennedy.

Portage prevails

PORTAGE — Maryn Swank fired a two-hitter and also homered, singled and drove in three runs to help Portage top Conemaugh Township, 12-2, in six innings.

Lauren Shaffer had three hits and scored three runs, MaKenna Redfern delivered three hits and two RBIs, Lexi Slanoc had two hits and two RBIs, and Sydney Castel added two hits.

The Lady Mustangs improved to 16-3 with the victory.

Heights dominates

PATTON — Cambria Heights scored 11 runs in each of the first two innings and beat Bishop Guilfoyle, 22-3, in three innings.

Beth Kinney delivered two hits and three RBIs for Heights, Kenna Rogal had two hits and two RBIs, Beth White and Jenna Serafin each had two hits, and Carly Mezzelo and Abby Zeglen each drove in two runs.

The Lady Highlanders improved to 14-1 while BG dropped to 0-11.

Lady Pirates hang on

WILLIAMSBURG — Bellwood-Antis scored three runs in the sixth inning to cut its deficit to one run, but Williamsburg held on for a 5-3 victory.

Elizabeth Frederick fired a three-hitter for the Lady Pirates with 13 strikeouts and also had three hits. Kara Lansberry hit two doubles, and Laney Prough drove in two runs.

Olivia Kelley knocked in a pair of runs for Bellwood.

Glendale nips MU

FLINTON — Hanna Noel’s two-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh inning lifted Glendale to a 5-4 victory over Mount Union.

Noel also pitched six shutout innings, allowing just one base runner on a walk, to earn the victory.

Lilley Vereshack, who hit a homer, Riley Best and Noel each had two hits for the Lady Vikings.

Glendale improved to 8-6 overall while the Lady Trojans fell to 14-2.

Bushore shines

CLAYSBURG — Olivia Bushore threw a two-hitter with four strikeout as Claysburg-Kimmel blanked West Branch, 2-0.

Sierra Walters’ two run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning won it for the Lady Bulldogs, who are now 11-4. Walters had three hits, and Jenna Helsel had two.
