Blair rugby boys win

The Blair United/Hollidaysburg boys and girls rugby teams were in action this past weekend with the boys getting a 34-10 win at State College, while the girls went to Pittsburgh, falling to Moon Township, 50-35.

The Blair boys, now 4-1, scored six tries and two conversions behind the likes of Elijah Ransom, Rocco Grassi, Ian DiPangrazio and Anthony Edwards. Blair is at Indiana this Sunday.

On the girls side, got tries from Anna Dick and Ashley Helmer, as well as Lana Pope and Paige Myers, with conversions scored by Ava Miller and Natalie Despot. Blair is at State College this weekend.

The junior high boys team was also in action, hosting a four-team tournament at Tiger Stadium in Hollidaysburg. Blair beat West Pitt, 15-10, behind scores from Mitchell Baronner, Nick McCloskey and Brayden Berkheimer. Blair lost to Cumberland Valley and beat North Pitt, 15-10, with tries scored by Christian White, Ryan McConnell and Kolby Long. The team will compete at a tourney in Pittsburgh this weekend.

This Sunday at Tiger Stadium, Hollidaysburg will act as a neutral site for a game featuring a high school team from Cleveland, St. Ignatius, against a team from Danbury, Connecticut, Aspertuck Valley. The game will begin at noon with other games to follow at 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
