Big Ten slate set for Lions
UNIVERSITY PARK –Penn State men’s basketball coach Micah Shrewsberry and the Nittany Lions will face seven double-play opponents and six single-play opponents that will comprise the Big Ten’s upcoming 20-game men’s basketball schedule for the 2021-22 season.
The league office announced the opponent formats on Thursday.
Penn State will play home and away games against Indiana, Iowa, Michigan State, Minnesota, Northwestern, Ohio State and Rutgers in 2021-22. Michigan, Nebraska and Purdue will round out the Nittany Lions’ 10-game home schedule in the Bryce Jordan Center. Away games for single-play opponents send Penn State to Illinois, Maryland and Wisconsin.

UNIVERSITY PARK — Penn State women’s basketball coach Carolyn Kieger announced the addition of Sarah Jenkins to her coaching staff ahead of the 2021-22 season.
Jenkins comes to Happy Valley after spending the last four seasons at the University of Delaware, including the past season as associate head coach and recruiting coordinator.
Pitt player returns
PITTSBURGH — Freshman John Hugley has been reinstated to the Pitt basketball program school officials announced Thursday.
Hugley will begin summer school Monday and is available to participate in all team activities.
The 6-foot-9, 240-pound forward out of Cleveland averaged 5.1 points and 4.3 rebounds per game in seven contests last season before being suspended on Jan. 15 .
The NBA announced Thursday the creation of a new award — the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Social Justice Champion Award — to recognize players who are making strides in the fight for social justice. Each NBA team will nominate one player for consideration; from there, five finalists will be selected and ultimately one winner. The winning player will receive $100,000 for the charity of his choice.
