Early offense enough for CC baseball in win over Guilfoyle

EBENSBURG — Central Cambria scored three runs in the first inning and those runs held up as the Red Devils beat Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic, 3-2, in high school baseball action Friday.

Reece Werner had two hits and two RBIs for Central Cambria, which improved to 3-3.

Winning pitcher Brayden Mennett added the other RBI. He also worked six innings, scattering six hits with three strikeouts and two walks.

Guilfoyle (6-2) got two hits each from Mike Boston and Austin Lewis, and one RBI from Devin Wyandt.

SOFTBALL

Claysburg prevails

FLINTON — Olivia Bushore struck out 11 batters and earned the complete-game victory in Claysburg-Kimmel’s 14-6 win over Glendale.

Bushore also recorded her 200th career strikout.

Neveah Walter led the Claysburg offense with three hits, including a home run, and three RBIs, and Madison Frye added two hits and three RBIs.

Chloe McElheny enjoyed a big day offensively for Glendale, smacking two home runs and driving in five runs.
