Steelers hire from within for new O-line coach

From Mirror, wire reports

PITTSBURGH — According to several media outlets Monday afternoon, Adrian Klemm was promoted from assistant offensive line coach to full-time offensive line coach with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Klemm replaces Sean Sarrett, who replaced Hall of Famer Mike Munchak in 2019. Sarrett was fired last month following a season in which the Steelers finished dead last in the NFL in rushing. Sarrett since has signed on with the Los Angeles Chargers as an assistant line coach.

Klemm, 43, appeared in 42 regular-season games between 2000-06, starting 18 of those games. He won three Super Bowl rings with the New England Patriots, and he also played for the Green Bay Packers. He was drafted in the second round out of Hawaii by the Patriots. He was a four-year starter at the collegiate level.

He also coached in the college ranks at SMU and UCLA until he got hired by the Steelers to assist Sarrett in 2019.

In three seasons at UCLA staff from 2014-16, Klemm was the associate head coach and the run game coordinator and offensive line coach under Jim Mora. In 2019, he and Mora were named in three civil suits that alleged harassment, humiliation and overlooking concussion protocols. The pending suits, which sought $15 million in damages, accused Klemm of coaching players to hit others in the head.

Klemm will work for new offensive coordinator Matt Canada, who replaced Randy Fichtner who was also fired at the end of the season.
