Panthers, Johnson will part ways

PITTSBURGH — University of Pittsburgh men’s basketball head coach Jeff Capel announced the departure of junior guard Xavier Johnson Wednesday.

Johnson will enter the NCAA Transfer Portal immediately.

Johnson was averaging 14.2 points, 3.4 rebounds and 5.7 assists per game in 18 contests (16 starts). He was shooting 42.6 percent (80-of-188) from the field, including 32.1 percent (25-of-78) from 3-point range. Johnson concludes his Pitt career ranked 30th on the all-time scoring list with 1,152 points.
