College signing: Adam Lechleitner: IUP cross country

Name: Adam Lechleitner

High school: Central Cambria

Hometown: Ebensburg

Sport: Cross country

College choice: Indiana University of Pennsylvania

Other colleges considered: Penn State Altoona

Why I picked IUP: “I picked IUP because of its excellent nursing program.”

Greatest high school achievement: “My team and I placing second at the PIAA 2A state meet this year.”

Coach Randy Wilson’s quote: “Adam is a tough and gritty runner who over the last year has made himself into one of the top distance runners in the area. He is primed for a great track and field season — 800-meter runners beware. I have no doubt he will bring that same toughness and be an asset to Coach (Joey) Zins’ IUP Crimson Hawks cross country and track and field teams. I think the fact that there are already Central Cambria alums (Paige Wess, Nate Kuntz) in the IUP program will help Adam adjust to running at the college level.”

How I got my start in cross country: “My friend, Toby Cree, said I should give running a try for the cross country team my freshman year.”

Favorite college growing up: Penn State

Other interests: Hunting, riding dirt bikes

What getting to run in college means to me: “It means continuing my passion for running and meeting more people with the same passion.”

Probable college major: Nursing

Parents: Michael and Nicole Lechleitner
