CC moving on to 2nd round

EBENSBURG — No. 6-seeded Central Cambria swept past Juniata in the first round of the District 6 2A playoffs, 25-7, 25-15, 25-14, in high school girls volleyball action on Monday.

Alli Malay had 10 kills, Maddy Kim had nine kills, Leah Burggraf collected 25 assists, and Eden Shirk added 14 digs and 16 service points.

The Lady Red Devils will play at No. 3 Forest Hills in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.

PC wins in three

CRESSON — No. 8-seeded Penn Cambria swept past No. 9 Blairsville, 25-13, 25-16, 25-16, in the District 6 Class 2A first round.

Chloe Guzic delivered 16 assists for the Lady Panthers, Marissa Conley collected eight kills, and Olivia Papi came through with five blocks.

Penn Cambria will play at top-seeded Philipsburg-Osceola in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.

Tyrone advances

TYRONE — Tyrone passed its first test in the District 6 Class 2A playoffs, knocking off Westmont Hilltop, 25-20, 25-8, 25-15.

Mattie Cherry registered 33 assists for Tyrone, Makenna Bauer had 14 kills, Courtney Williams accumulated 10 kills and six blocks, Maecy Tuskovich had eight digs, and Reagan Irons added seven kills and nine service points.

The Lady Eagles, seeded No. 7, will travel to No. 2 Bald Eagle Area on Wednesday for the quarterfinals.

Class 1A playoffs

Bishop Carroll moved on to the District 6 1A quarterfinals with a 3-1 win over Portage.

The Lady Huskies will travel to No. 2 West Shamokin in tonight’s match.

No. 11 Purchase Line upset No. 6 seed Claysburg-Kimmel and will now face No. 3 Bishop Guilfoyle in tonight’s quarterfinals at the Pleasant Valley gym.

Bishop McCort knocked out Juniata Valley with a 3-1 win.

Lady Tigers win

HOLLIDAYSBURG — Hollidaysburg evened its record at 9-9 with a 25-16, 25-20, 27-25 regular-season win over Central.

Brinley Bowers had 12 assists for Central.
