Zimmerman leads Northern charge

ALEXANDRIA — Northern Bedford’s Ian Zimmerman dominated the boys’ field in the Inter-County Conference Cross Country Championships hosted by Juniata Valley on Thursday.

Zimmerman won by 2 minutes, 33 seconds with a time of 16:07 to help Northern place first among seven boys teams. Bellwood-Antis’ Kenny Robison placed second at 18:40.

The Bellwood boys won the ICC boys overall league championship by going 6-1 during the dual-meet season and edging Northern on a tiebreaker.

Juniata Valley’s Morgan Hess won the girls’ race with a 22:43. She was followed by Northern Bedford’s Emilee Sherlock (23:28), Williamsburg’s Kelsey Butler (23:59) and Northern’s Harley Socie (24:17).

Altoona boys ninth

WHITE OAK — The Altoona boys finished ninth out of 27 teams in the Class 3A Tri-State Coaches Invitational at White Oak Park in cross country action.

Aidan Kelley was Altoona’s top finished, 46th with a time of 17:39.

Mackenzie Kelley finished 81st in the girls’ field to help Altoona place 26th.

Lady Tigers win

JOHNSTOWN — Hollidaysburg won its second match of the week, beating Westmont Hilltop, 4-1, in high school girls tennis.

Ella Jodon and Lydia Lieb won singles matches for the Lady Tigers, and Rachel Gallagher and Regan McKee, and Megan Ferris and Madeline Waibel won doubles matches.

Three-time District 6 Class 2A singles champ Alyssa Kush won at No. 1 singles for Westmont.
