H.S. digest: CC takes 1-2 at golf event

SALIX — Central Cambria’s Megan Stevens won the Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference girls golf championship on Thursday at the Windber Country Club.

Stevens won in a playoff over teammate Cydney Forcellini. Both golfers finished with 99s in regulation play.

Penn Cambria’s Marlana Krug was third with a 100.

Tyrone boys sweep

TYRONE — The Tyrone boys swept a triangular meet, beating Philipsburg-Osceola, 22-37, and Bald Eagle Area, 17-44, in high school cross country action.

Garin Hoy of Tyrone won the boys’ race in 18 minutes, 43 seconds.

The Tyrone girls defeated BEA, 12-24, but fell to P-O, 25-38. Beth Pearson of Tyrone won the girls’ race in 25:04, followed by teammate Stephanie Ramsey in 25:10.
