Blair County dominates seeds for playoffs

Four Blair County teams earned top seeds for the upcoming District 6 soccer playoffs.
The pairings were released on Friday, and the tournament begins Monday with three Class 2A girls games.
Both the Altoona boys and girls teams are top-seeded in Class 4A. The Altoona boys will play the winner of State College-Mifflin County in the championship on Tuesday, Nov. 3, and the Altoona girls also face the State College-Mifflin County winner in the final on Wednesday, Nov. 4
The Hollidaysburg girls are top-seeded in Class 3A and will play in the championship game on Tuesday, Nov. 3 against the winner of Bellefonte and Tyrone.
The Bishop Guilfoyle girls are No. 1 in Class 1A and will host a semifinal game against Bishop McCort on Wednesday. The winner of that game will face Penns Valley or West Branch in the final on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
Other area teams earning top seeds were the Central Cambria boys and Bedford girls in Class 2A.
The CC boys open play on Tuesday by hosting eighth-seeded Bald Eagle Area in the quarterfinals. The Cambria Heights boys are seeded fourth in 2A and will host No. 5 Huntingdon on Tuesday as well.
The Bedford girls host eighth-seeded Central on Monday in the quarterfinals. The championship for 2A girls is Wednesday, Nov. 4, and the final for 2A boys is Thursday, Nov. 5.
In Class 3A boys, Hollidaysburg is seeded No. 2 and will host No. 3 Penn Cambria on Monday, Nov. 2 in the semifinals. The other semifinal pits No. 4 Tyrone at No. 1 Bellefonte. The 3A boys final is slated for Thursday, Nov. 5.
The Bishop Carroll boys are seeded No. 3 in Class 1A and will play No. 2 Saint Joseph’s at Bald Eagle Area High School in Wingate in the semifinals next Thursday. The 1A boys final is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 4.
