BC battles back to earn win

EBENSBURG — Bishop Carroll dropped the first set, 19-25, but came back to win the next three, 25-16, 25-12, 31-29, to beat Penn Cambria in high school girls volleyball action on Thursday.

Makaylah Koscho contributed 30 assists for BC, Ellie Long delivered 18 kills, and Casey Buynack added 25 digs.

JOHNSTOWN — Bishop Guilfoyle swept its way to a 25-10, 25-18, 25-12 win over Johnstown to improve to 9-1.

Lia Simanski had 15 digs and nine service points for the Lady Marauders, Erin Yahner had 14 kills and 10 service points, including three aces, and Abby Yahner delivered 23 service points, including 10 aces.

PATTON — Cambria Heights rallied for a 25-23, 21-25, 15-25, 25-18, 15-1 win over Richland.

Shaylee Packard led the Lady Highlanders with 20 assists. Amber Farabaugh served 13 consecutive points to end the fifth set.

Glendale wins in 3

FLINTON — Glendale downed Claysburg-Kimmel in three sets, 25-16, 25-16, 25-18.

Olivia Reese collected 16 kills for the Lady Vikings, and Kyla Campbell contributed 18 service points, nine kills and three blocks.

WILLIAMSBURG — Juniata Valley upped its record to 8-5 with a 25-5, 25-21, 25-17 win over Williamsburg.

Avery Taylor led Valley with 16 service points and nine kills, Emma Musser had 21 digs, and Olivia Smith contributed 15 assists.

Altoona’s Julia Savino passed the 1,000 career dig milestone while collecting 18 in the match. Jaylyn Long delivered 13 assists, and Andrea Kiser and Jadeyn Price each had six kills.

Portage wins

JOHNSTOWN — Portage downed Conemaugh Valley, 25-17, 25-18, 25-15, behind 16 digs from Keira Sossong.

The Lady Mustangs improved to 6-7.

Megan Semanchik had 10 digs and six kills for Portage, and Kayley Sossong had 22 assists.
