Mountain Lion golf keeps on winning

The Altoona boys golf team improved to 4-0 Tuesday afternoon, thanks to a 421-441 win over Central in high school action at the Park Hills Country Club.

Scotty Lawhead’s 78 was tops for the Mountain Lions, who also got an 85 from Marcus Lucas. Central (10-7) got an 83 from Griffin Snowberger and an 84 from Jerry Brumbaugh

Tigers triumph

BOALSBURG — The Hollidaysburg boys team improved to 5-1, thanks to wins over St. Joseph’s, Bald Eagle Area and Penns Valley in high school action at the Mountain View Country Club.

Eric Davis’ 75 led Holidaysburg (429), while teammate Zach Clapper finished second (81). St. Joseph’s was second (440) behind Tim Peters (75) while Bald Eagle Area was third (551) and Penns Valley (556) fourth.

TYRONE — Chad Frank shot a 79 at the Sinking Valley Country Club to help Philipsburg-Osceola (397) to a win over both Bellwood-Antis and Claysburg-Kimmel.

Teammate Oliver Harpster added a 95.

Bellwood-Antis (427) got a 91 from Noah Patton. The Bulldogs (491) got a 121 from Parker Buell.

Mustangs split

CENTRAL CITY — Portage got a 40 from Jon Brickley in a 230-250 win over Shanksville-Stoneycreek, but not enough to knock off Rockwood (216), which got a 36 from Vileska Gelpi and a 40 from Chase Bouras.

Austin Gentile added a 44 for the Mustangs (2-1).
