Foursome captures Butch Focht event


Dave Kephart sank a hole-in-one while playing at King Valley Golf Course.

Kephart hit the shot on No. 16 using a 6-iron. it was witnessed by Bob Plummer and Tim Nagle.

Jim Gority sank a hole-in-one at the Immergrun Golf Club.

He hit the shot on No. 2, 133-yards long, using a 9-iron. It was witnessed by Richard Hall and Doug Roberts.

Phyllis Baker made a hole-in-one on No. 2 at the Immergrun Golf Course on Sunday. She used a 3-wood on the par-3 133-yard hole, and the shot was witnessed by Father Dennis Kurdziel.

HOLLIDAYSBURG — The team of Terry Goldstein, Jim Brown, Marty Long and Rick Strasser recently won the weekly tournament in the Butch Focht Golf League at the Sylvan Hills Golf Club.

Dave Johns, John Roland, Ed Perry and Ed Wyland finished second, while Sen Thach, Walt Focht, Joe DeAntonio and Bill Blanset placed third.

Summit CC

CRESSON — Maddie Krug and Anthony Mariani carded a 66 to win the gross division in the Summit Memorial/Jack and Jill Event at the Summit Country Club on Saturday.

Joe Dziabo and Claudia Lucas won the net division with a 68. Skill prize winners included Rose Storm, Paul Calandra, Chrissy Sears and Mariani.

Sylvan Hills

HOLLIDAYSBURG — The team of Dave Biseli, Don Stubbs, Mary Jane Terza and Lynn Durbin won a Sunday scramble at Sylvan Hills Golf Club with a score of 32 by edging the team of Jim Baughman, Marty Long, Rick Terza and Rosey McCoy on a card-off.

Mike Luther was the low gross with a 34 in the Thursday Night Golf League, and he also tied for the low net (29) with Kevin Fuller and Jim Seiler.

Mike Knorr was closest to the pin on hole No. 2, and Gary Long was closest on No. 4. League leaders are Donnie Fisher and Andy French.

Huntingdon CC

HUNTINGDON — Bob Lamey and Rick Bayer went 2-0 during league play in the Big Orange Golf League at the Huntingdon Country Club.

The teams of Larry Newton and Gerry Huggler, along with Phil Thompson and Jim Lakso, went 1-1. Bill Frazier and Ed Gargula went 0-2.

Lamey shot a 39 to win the low gross honor while Lakso and Gargula tied at 37 for low net.

The shot of the day was Gargula’s chip shot for birdie on No. 17 to tie the match.

Alan Herbster subbed for Frazier on the day.
