Local baseball

Tyrone Legion improved its first-place record to 11-2 in the George B. Kelley Federation Wednesday night, thanks to an 11-2 win over Park Home at Vets Field.

Winning pitcher David Lang struck out four and walked three. He also helped out with three hits and an RBI. Teammate Kevin Lehner added two RBIs.

Park Home fell to 6-9.

LILLY — Conrad Chiropractic/Lilly American Legion scored once in the top of the seventh, then held on despite giving up two in the bottom of the frame for a 7-6 win over Sheetz in a Greater City League game Wednesday night.

C.J. McCoy had two hits for Lilly (10-1). Jim Dunlap got the win in relief.

Sheetz (4-9) got two hits each from Ryan Slagenweit and Kyle DeGennaro, who also added an RBI.

HOLLIDAYSBURG — Hollidaysburg took two from Ebensburg in a Central Pa. League twinbill, winning the first game, 9-8, and the nightcap, 8-7, to improve to 8-2.

In the opener — a completion of a suspended game from earlier this season — Landon Meadows singled home Nate Sell with the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth. Sell led off the frame with a single. Braden Callahan got the win. He struck out five and walked two.

In the nightcap, winning pitcher Erik Rhodes had two hits along with teammates Matt Moyer and Zac Barton,who also drove in two runs. Rhodes finished with five strikeouts and six walks.

J&P Auto Mart evened its record at 6-6 Wednesday night, thanks to a 5-4 win over ERA Sports in an Altoona Teener Minor League game at Seitz Field.

Winning pitcher Paul Wedel struck out two. Teammate Ryan Hagg added wo hits.

ERA, which got two hits from Owen Miller, fell to 3-10.

n Justin Fleck drove in four runs on three hits, and Rocky Dennis knocked in three to help PennCrest Bank down Furrer Beverage, 15-5, in the late Major League game Tuesday at Seitz Field.

PennCrest (7-4) jumped out to the early lead with seven in the top of the first and scored in every inning but the fifth. Kaleb Mountain’s sac fly in the top of the seventh scored Derek Clapper and brought the mercy rule into effect.

Carson Kensinger got the win, striking out five. Dennis, Mountain, Wyatt Young and Ryan Hopkins each had two hits for PennCrest. Alex Yost and Britt Marko had two hits apiece for Furrer (8-6).
