Johnston wins pitching duel

Sam Servello and Austin Hammerle combined to help Johnston Realty defeat B&M Contracting, 3-2, Wednesday night in an Altoona Greater City Baseball League matchup at Juniata.

Servello pitched five shutout innings with 14 strikeouts and two walks. He gave up two hits. Hammerle got the win in relief. He struck out four and walked four while giving up two runs in two innings.

B&M (6-3) tied it at 2-2 in the top of the seventh while Johnston (7-3) won it in the bottom of the seventh.

Lennox Pugh had two hits for the winners while Drew Weglarz had two RBIs. Austin Lewis added an RBI.

B&M got solo RBIs from Brandon Durbin and Andrew Maul.

Martin Oil and Shirley’s Cookies split a twinbill Wednesday night, with Martin Oil winning, 8-2, in the opener, while losing, 10-2, in the nightcap in Kelley Federation action at Vets Field.

In the opener, Martin Oil got three hits and five RBIs from Cooper Guyer in a game it led, 3-0, after four innings. Teammate Troy Walker aded two hits.

Shirley’s got two hits each from Kyle Glass and Caleb Oakes, who also added an RBI.

In the nightcap, Shirley’s got a strong pitching performance fom Kyle Glass in the 10-2 win. He struck out 10 and walked no one in scattering three hits in a game his team led, 10-0,a fter two innings.

Pressten Imler had two hits and three RBIs for Shirley’s. Teammates Par-ker Dibert and Wyatt Buell each added two hits and two RBIs. Connor Oakes added two hits and an RBI.

Guyer had three his for Martin Oil to go with two from Walker.

Cumming Motors upset Gingrich Insurance, 4-2, Wednesday night in an Altoona Teener Minor League game at Seitz Field.

Cumming was 4-3 going into the game while Gingrich was 8-1.

Winning pitcher Dominic Battisti scattered two hits over four innings. He struck out three. Vincent Cacciotti, Zack Pier and Chase Kissel each drove in a run for Cumming.

Stone Sral had a triple and scored twice for Ginrich.

n Noah Rodriguez had two hits and was also the winning pitcher in leading ERA Sports to a 7-3 win over McMullen Furniture in an Altoona Teener Minor League game from Tuesday.

Rodriguez finished with six strikeouts for ERA (4-7). Bentley Prough, Ryan Helsel and Andrew Kyle each had multiple hits for ERA. Dontae Emerick and Quinn Hatch each had two hits for McMullen (1-10).

n Justin Fleck doubled home two runs in the sixth to help PennCrest Bank to an 8-6 win over Locker Room in a late Teener Major game from Tuesday night at Seitz Field.

Trailing 4-1, PennCrest took advantage of six walks in the fifth to take the lead. Derek Clapper picked up the win in the relief. Ryen Webster led Locker Room with three hits.
