Ladies event held at SHGC

HOLLIDAYSBURG — The team of Rita Brouse, Maddy Shea, Sandy Murphy and Linda Smith won the Hatfields vs. McCoys Golf Tournament held at the Sylvan Hills Golf Club recently.

Second-place honors went to the team of Brenda Flick, Karen Duffett, Rosey McCoy and Cathy Beam.

Gingrich gets opening victory

Sam Royer, Braxton Zitsch and Logan Meyers combined to pitch Gingrich Insurance to a 5-0 win over ERA Sports in an Altoona Teener Minor League game at Seitz Field Wednesday night.

Royer struck out four while Zitsch struck out seven. Royer also drove in two runs while teammate Ethan Chaplin added two hits.

In other action, Gaven Ridgway and Nick Hogan each had two hits, and Hunter Rossman drove in three runs while scoring two more as Kiwanis beat Sheetz, 8-4, in an Altoona Teener Major League game from Tuesday night.

Hogan also drove in a run for the winners.

Nick Kost struck out nine in getting the win. He also helped himself out with an RBI. Evan Alwine struck out six in getting the loss.
