Local trio captures event in the Hills

HOLLIDAYSBURG — The team of Karen Duffet, Carol Young and Pam Riley recently won the Ladies Golf Association Tournament held this past week at the Sylvan Hills Golf Club.

Second-place honors went to the team of Cathy Beam, Janet Grove, Karen Hosey and Linda Wise. Third place was won by the team of Melissa Fetzer, Rita Brouse, Sandy Murphy and Connie Angelski.

The team of Pat Dunn, Gary Zimmerman and Tom Shea won a tournament played in the George “Butch” Senior League. Second place went to Dave Johns, Bob Gray and Joe DeAntonio. Third-place honors were earned by Sen Thach, Dave Biseli and Bill Blanset.


HOLLIDAYSBURG — Anthony DeGol recently sank a hole-in-one while playing golf at the Scotch Valley Country Club.

DeGol hit the shot on No. 8 using a 6-iron. It was 215 yards long. The shot was witnessed by Whitney DeGol.

EBENSBURG — The 2020 Pa. Riderunners Junior Golf Tour Schedule is set to get under way on Monday, June 8, at the Ebensburg Country Club.

Each event is open to competitive junior golfers, boys and girls, ages 11-17 or who are entering grades 6-12. Contestants are to enter via phone entry no earlier than two weeks prior to an event but no later than two days prior to each event. The phone number for the first event at the Ebensburg Country Club is 472-6550.

The entry fee per event is $35 for 18 holes, $30 for 9 holes. Each contestant must walk and carry their own golf bag.

The format is individual ball/18 hole or 9 hole divisions. Age/grade/ability level will be determine division played within the event.

There will also be tourneys at Sinking Valley in Tyrone, Scotch Valley in Hollidaysburg, Park Hills, Immergrun, Iron Masters, Philipsburg Elks, Windber, The Summit and Champion Lakes in Bolivar. Questions can be directed to the golf pro or pro staff members at each golf course.
