Everett rifle wins title

JEROME — The Everett rifle team captured the inaugural Allegheny Mountain Rifle Conference championship on Thursday, beating Conemaugh Township, 1,382-1,379, in high school action.

The Warriors, who improved to 14-0, will next compete at the PA Prone Championships to be held on Tuesday, Feb. 18, at the Everett Sportsman’s Club.

Jesse Chamberlain led Everett with a 279, followed by 277s from Travis Kendall and Allison Klavuhn.

Conemaugh Township got a 283 from Ruby Korenoski.

EVERETT (1,382): Chamberlain 279, Kendall 277, Klavuhn 277, White 275, Ramsey 274.

CONEMAUGH TOWNSHIP (1,397): Korenoski 283, Fetterman 277, Marisa 276, Weakland 275, Forish 268.

Tiger icers fall

Central Cambria came back from three goals down in the second period to top Hollidaysburg, 5-4, at Galactic Ice in high school ice hockey action Thursday night.

Michael Solimando had a hat trick for the Tigers and Noah Bauman registered three assists.

Dylan Bloom, Chase Stormer, Rick Lias, Ian Swope and Wade Plowman each scored once for the Devils, and Braden Sweeney had two assists.

MVL names stars

Four area athletes were honored Thursday when the Moshannon Valley League released its all-star teams for the 2019-2020 season.

Glendale’s Olivia Reese was named team MVP of the girls team, while teammate Kyla Campbell and Moshannon Valley’s Sydney Bubb were selected for the girls team proper. Glendale finished a perfect 8-0 to win the Mo Valley League girls championship.

On the boys side, Glendale’s Ryan Sinclair, who recently scored his 1,000th career point, was the only area athlete named to the boys’ team.
