Local team takes second in Canada

From Mirror reports

The Sitting Bulls — a local sled hockey team comprised of disabled ice hockey players — recently took a silver medal at the London Blizzard Sled Hockey Tournament in Canada.

After defeating a team from Canada, 2-0, in the semifinals, they advanced to the finals. However, it was there they lost 1-0 to a team from Ontario, Canada.

The organizers and coaches of the Sitting Bulls will host a free try sled day on Saturday, Feb. 22, at Galactic Ice in Altoona for anyone interested in joining the team.

UNIVERSITY PARK — Penn State women’s soccer captain Amanda Dennis has signed a contract to join the Houston Dash of the National Women’s Soccer League.

Dennis joins Kaleigh Riehl as the second Nittany Lion to join the NWSL this offseason. Riehl was selected with the 11th overall pick earlier this month in the NWSL College Draft.

She was the Nittany Lions starting goalkeeper for three seasons, making 72 starts in goal for Penn State. Dennis won 45 games and recorded 24 shutouts during her time as a Nittany Lion.

She ranks third all-time with a .77 goals against average and fourth all-time with 45 wins, 6,129 minutes played and 24 shutouts. She ranks fifth all-time in program history with 202 saves.

Dennis is the third Nittany Lion to join the professional ranks following the 2019 season.

Along with Riehl’s draft selection, senior captain Ellie Jean signed a professional contract with FC Nordsjilland in Denmark.
