McMillen, Sarbo could be on collision course

CRESSON — Glendale returning Class 2A state champion Brock McMillen and Altoona Class 3A state qualifier Matt Sarbo are a win away from a rematch in today’s Panther Holiday Classic finals.

McMillen and Sarbo clashed in last year’s 126-pound finals, and McMillen eked out a 5-4 win. They could be wrestling in the 132-pound finals, which are scheduled for 6:15 tonight at Mount Aloysius College.

McMillen and Sarbo are two of 10 area wrestlers who advanced to the semifinals in the 43-team tournament.

Glendale advanced five to the semis and is second place in the team standings with 122 points. North Allegheny leads the team race with 128.5 points.

Joining McMillen in the semifinals are teammates Zeke Dubler (113), returning tournament runner-up Suds Dubler (126), Tristan Rutter (145) and Cory Johnston (220).

Altoona’s Trevor Manley (285), Tyrone’s Hunter Walk (120), Badford’s returning tournament runner-up Kaden Cassidy (138) and Huntingdon’s Myles Baney (182) also advanced.

McMillen went 3-0 with two technical falls and a pin to get to the semis, where he’ll face Westmont Hilltop’s Conner Polacek. Sarbo went 3-0 with three first-period pins, including a fall in 1:45 over Bedford’s Jacob Dawson in the quarterfinals. Sarbo faces Tunkhannock’s David Evans in the semis.
