College baseball: Keegan Soltis
Name: Keegan Soltis
High school: Philipsburg-Osceola
Position: Third Base, catcher
College choice: Millersville University
Other colleges considered: Seton Hill, UPJ, LHU, SRU, Longwood University, Binghamton University
Why I picked Millersville: From my first visit, Millersville felt like home. Coach Jon Shehan has a first-class program that consistently competes for championships year in and year out. I wanted to be a part of that tradition. The university offers several majors that I am interested in and I liked the size of the campus.
Greatest high school achievement: Being a leader on the 2019 team that made a run into the state playoffs. Hitting 2 HRs against Clearfield my freshman year. Hitting .500 with 33 hits/30 my junior year while missing the first 3 games of the season due to an injury.
P-O coach Doug Sankey: “I’ve known Keegan since he was in little league. He has worked extremely hard to get where he’s at, and he knows that he must continue to grow in order to compete at the next level. Keegan made an immediate impact to our program as a freshman. He stepped right in, and was a middle of the order guy. He has been our best offensive player for the past three seasons. What most people probably don’t realize is that Keegan is also a great defender. He is one of the best high school third baseman that I’ve coached or seen in 22 years. I know that Keegan will make a positive impact to the Millersville baseball program, and also to the university.”
How I got my start playing baseball: My parents signed me up for the local T-Ball Program at age 4.
Favorite college growing up: Notre Dame
Other interests: Hunting, fishing, golf, basketball, hanging out with my friends
What getting to play in college means to me: It has always been a goal of mine to continue to play at the next level. From Little League to high school and Flood City baseball, my parents have always been supportive of me and have provided me with the many opportunities over the years. I look forward to what the future will bring for me both on and off the field.
Probable college major: Math-Statistics, Pre-Pharmacy, Chemistry
