Ferguson, Stricek capture Elks Lodge golf tournament

PHILIPSBURG — The team of Greg Ferguson and Chris Stricek combined to shoot a 65, one stroke better than the team of Artie Fink and Todd Homan, en route to winning the Philipsburg Elks Lodge Country Club Fall Classic.

Don and Matt Johnson, along with Bo Sankey and Doug Goss, also finished with 66s to wind up tied with Fink and Homan.

In the net division, the team of Don Filby and Rob Hippo finished tied with Chris Dobson and Roy Reeve at 58s. Tied for third at 61 were the teams of AJ and Zack Czap, and Bill Jones and Mike Witters.

HOLLIDAYSBURG — Brad Mikolajczyk, Aaron Harr and Tom Haught shot a team score of 60 to win the three-person scramble recently at Scotch Valley Country Club.

Anthony DeGol, Dave DeGol Sr. and Denny Nagle tied the team of Gaige Orndoff, Eric Davis and Sam Shoemaker with indentical scores of 61 for second place.

Derek McAlkich, Andrew Smith and Mike McAlkich shot a 65 for third.

Gary Zimmerman sank a hole-in-one recently while playing golf at the King Valley Golf Course.

Zimmerman hit the shot, the third of his career, on No. 6, 125 yards long using an 8-iron. It was witnessed by Tom Shea, Bill Dambeck and Pete Litzinger.
