Trio help Bedford win over rival Lions

FISHERTOWN — Emily Ruhlman, Josie Shuke and Jenna Poorbaugh were all winners in singles action for Bedford in a 4-1 win over rival Chestnut Ridge in high school girls tennis on Thursday.

The team of Emily Casalena and Breanna Smith won in doubles for the Lady Bisons, while Alecsis Mowry and Cortnie Weaver won No. 2 doubles for Chestnut Ridge.

CC wins again

EBENSBURG — Central Cambria improved to 14-2 with a 4-1 win over Somerset.

The Lady Red Devils got singles wins from Olivia Ratchford, Corrine Markovich and Emma Ratchford to go with doubles victories from Rachel Holtz and Sam Archangelo, and Ella Persio and Malia Kutchman.

Lady Tigers prevail

WILLIAMSPORT — Ella Jodon’s win in the No. 3 singles match turned the tide for Hollidaysburg, which swept the doubles events in a 3-2 win over Williamsport.

Jennifer Lasek and Madeline Waibel won No. 1 doubles for the Lady Tigers, and Rachel Gallagher and Jocelyn Pandolph won No. 2 doubles.

Williamsport is the defending District 2-4 Class 3A champion.

TYRONE — Tyrone lost the top three singles matches, but rallied back with singles wins from Alicia Endress and Rachel Stricek for a 4-3 win over Windber.

Winnie Grot and Lydia Irvin won No. 1 doubles for the Lady Eagles (6-2), while Lindsey Walk and Emilee Walk won No. 2 doubles.

Miranda Madden and Ariadne Madden, along with Violet Smith and Ellen Kennedy, won in doubles, 8-0, for Central.
