Sikora shoots Lady Devils to victory at LHAC tourney

WINDBER — Jaylee Sikora was the medalist, and the Central Cambria girls won the Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference Golf Championships on Thursday at Windber Country Club.

Sikora shot an 83 to help the Lady Devils win with a 395. Penn Cambria, with Kayla Ringler shooting a 95, finished second with a 426.

Bishop McCort won the boys’ title with a 322 and was followed by Bedford with a 335. Matt Tokarczyk led Bedford with a 78 and was tied for second individually.

Central Cambria’s Brian Walwro was fourth with a 79, and Bedford’s Jared Turner was sixth with an 81.

Mustangs take third

STOYSTOWN — Max Herman shot an 88 to tie for seventh place and helped Portage finish in third place at the WestPAC Boys Championships at Oakbrook Golf Course.

Portage’s Austin Gentile finished in a tie for 10th after carding a 92, and the Mustangs finished with a team score of 373.

Rockwood, which claimed the top three spots on the individual leader board, won the team title with a score of 323, and Vileska Gelpi won medalist honors with his low score of 72.

Altoona falls short

Despite two scores under 80, the Altoona boys fell against Kiski Prep at Park Hills, 401-418.

Scotty Lawhead and Dom Fasolo each shot 79 for the Mountain Lions. Bob Burr shot a 74 to earn medalist honors for Kiski Prep.

Blue Devils go 1-1

TYRONE — Bellwood-Antis split with Tussey Mountain and Everett at Sinking Valley, beating the Titans (423-511) while losing to Everett (369-423).

Noah Patton led the Blue Devils with a 93, while Dillon Taylor led the Warriors with an 83. Caleb Sopher’s 108 was tops for the Titans.
