PC’s six takes care of the rest

CRESSON — Penn Cambria had six of the top 10 finishers to pick up wins over Portage (28-31), Bishop McCort (15-50), Bishop Carroll (15-50) and Chestnut Ridge (15-50) in high school boys cross country action Wednesday.

Noah Lee was the Panthers’ top runner, taking third in 19:22. Ridge’s Colan Bollman won the boys race in 18:01 and Lane Macy of Portage was in second at 19:01.

In girls action, Portage’s Lauren Shaffer led the pack with a time of 20:33 and a first-place finish as the Lady Mustangs won over Penn Cambria (26-30) and Chestnut Ridge (26-29). Maddie Hudak finished third in 23:47 for Portage.

Penn Cambria’s Kasey Farabaugh took second in 23:25, and the Lady Panthers defeated Bishop McCort, 21-34, and Bishop Carroll, 15-50.

Chestnut Ridge also picked up wins over Carroll (15-50) and McCort (19-38), with Ava Whysong taking fourth place in 23:52 as the Lady Lions’ top performer.

Red Devils shine

BEDFORD — Bedford’s Van May won the boys race in 18:26, but Central Cambria placed seven in the top 10 to get wins over Cambria Heights, 15-50, and Bedford, 20-43.

Devon Morgan led the Red Devil contingent with a third-place finish in 19:06.

Annalise Neibauer won the girls race for Central Cambria in 21:25 for Lady Devil wins over Bedford, 23-36, and Heights, 15-50.

Stella Kuntz finished second in 21:23 for the Lady Devils, and Bedford’s Savannah Nesbit took third place in 21:31.

JV splits at home

ALEXANDRIA — Juniata Valley split with Mount Union, with the girls winning, 15-49, while the boys fell to the Trojans, 23-34.

The Valley girls were led by Morgan Hess, who won in 23:38. Teammates Lexie Reed and Ella McGargle followed in second and third, respectively. For the Valley boys, Jefferson Hill won the race in 21:00, but Mount Union took the next two spots. Matt Musser was fourth for Valley.

Guilfoyle defeated

The Bishop Guilfoyle boys and girls teams lost to Westmont Hilltop, Somerset and Windber at home.

The top girls runner was Jaden Quinn, who took fifth in 23:59. The BG boys did not have a runner finish in the top 10.

The BG boys lost 15-45 to Westmont, 15-50 to Somerset, and 22-36 to Windber. The BG girls lost 15-50 to Westmont, 15-50 to Somerset and 15-50 to Windber.
