Gargula, Lakso have Big Orange lead

Dave Francis scored the second hole-in-one of his career at Park Hills, acing the 163-yard No. 6 hole by feathering the driver. Witnesses were Jack Laret, Jeff Aikens, Ray Askey and Mike Madden.

Dakota McClucas recently sank a hole-in-one while playing golf at the King Valley Golf Course. The shot came on No. 11, and McCucas used a 7-iron. It was witnessed by Tyler Brown, Jim Kibler and Jon Madey.

HUNTINGDON — Ed Gargula and Jim Lakso have a one-game lead in the Big Orange Golf League at the Huntingdon Country Club.

Gargula and Lakso are 5-3, while the teams of Bill Frazier and Bob Lamey, along with Larry Newton and Rick Bayer, are 4-4. Phil Thompson and Gerry Huggler are 2-6.

Geoff Clarke was the low gross winner (36), while Alan Herbster was the low net winner (33). Keith Black had the shot of the day when he sank a 20-foot putt for birdie downhill.

Subs for the day were Clarke for Lakso, Herbster for Huggler and Black for Newton.

King Valley

IMLER — Dakota McLucas and John Kibler were the recent winners of the King Valley Golf Course Club Championships.

In the low gross event, McLucas edged out Tyler Brown for top honors. In the low net event, Kibler edged out Nathan Sell.

In the senior flight, Mike Glasshauser was the gross winner, while Don Myers was the net winner.

Sylvan Hills

HOLLIDAYSBURG — Dave Johns, Bob Gray, Dick Barefoot and Buck Lear placed first this week in the George “Butch” Focht Senior League at Sylvan Hills Golf Club.

Ed Wyland, Dave Biseli, Don Stubbs and Bud McCartney were second, and Pat Dunn, Jim Brown, Steve Downing and Ed Perry were third.

The previous week, Lynn Perry, Ed Perry and Downing were first, followed by Dunn, Tom Shea and Hank Codd in second, and Don Stubbs, Gary Hoover and John Roland in third.

Bernie Mayancsik won the Ladies Golf Association Ladies Club Championship, followed by Connie Angeski and Cathy Beam.

Carol Young won the first flight, followed by Mary Jane Terza and Sandy Murphy, and Marian Monios won the second flight, followed by Evie Monahan and Sue Welsh.

The winners of the Ladies Association event was the team of Mayancsik, Angeski, Monahan and Karen Duffet. Second-place honors went to Deyonne Beck, Young and Sue Green. Beam, Bonnie Deem, Karen Hosey and Shirley Wilkinson took third, while the team of Carol Laich, Linda Wise, Welsh and Denny Madden were fourth.

Park Hills

Building Partnerz held its annual golf event at Park Hills Golf Club, and the morning scramble was won by Pittsburgh Aire with a score of 59, and the afternoon shotgun was won by CSI Corporation.

Proceeds went to Sheetz Charities.

In other action, Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic High School held its annual fundraiser. The winning score of 52 was shot by the team of Mark Condrin, Nick Gates, Chuck Myers and Doug Myers. Second-place honors went to Kraig Kiesewetter, Chris Kirwin, Jay Labriola and Von Villano with a 56.

Park Hills held a best two-balls-of-four event. Tied at 119 were the teams of Tom Hammond, Dave Dwyer, Jeff Akers and Bob Pacifico, and Sue Leberfinger, John Bottenfield, Larry Long and Mark Gensimore.
