Bishop Carroll gives Heights its first loss

PATTON — Bishop Carroll handed Cambria Heights its first loss of the season with a 24-26, 18-25, 25-13, 25-11, 15-11 come-from-behind win Tuesday night in high school girls volleyball action.

Both teams are 6-1.

Sara Muriceak had 19 service points to lead BC while teammte Mia Wyland aded 12 service points. Muriceak added 40 assists to go with 20 digs from Wyland. Mara Yahner added 29 kills.

Heights got 21 service points from Amber Farabaugh to go with 14 each from Brenna Packard and Kendall Conrad. Nikki McCombie added 47 assists to go with 20 kills from Emily Henry and 16 kills from Conrad.

Lady Spikers triumph

Jaylyn Long had 10 kills and Ireland McClellan had six kills as Altoona swept State College, 25-10, 25-15, 25-19 at the Altoona Fieldhouse for its first win of the season.

Julia Savino had 10 digs and M.J. White had two blocks.

BG bests Richland

JOHNSTOWN — Lyzee Wilson and Teresa Haigh combined for 22 kills to lead Bishop Guilfoyle past Richland, 25-15, 25-21, 25-20.

Wilson had 12 kills and Haigh had 10. Lexi Kilmartin and Emily Kasun each had 10 service points, and Kasun also had a team high 28 assists while Raven Criscitello registered 10 digs.

MARTINSBURG — Erin Brumbaugh led Central with 16 assists and eight kills, but the Lady Dragons fell at home to Huntingdon, 25-18, 26-24, 15-25, 19-25, 15-9.

Lainie Heuston had 29 digs for Central, and Abbie Kitt added 18 digs.

Duo leads Lady Tigers

HOLLIDAYSBURG — Isabella George and Allison Barton each had nine kills for Hollidaysburg in a 25-13, 25-15, 22-25, 25-23 win over Central Mountain.

Morgan O’Neil had a team high 14 service points, George had 13 service points and Reagan Ferguson had 11 service points.

Bezek sparks CC

EBENSBURG — Cass Bezek led Central Cambria with 18 service points, including four aces, and 19 digs in a victory (25-11, 25-13, 25-13) over Johnstown.

Taylor Kritz contributed nine points and nine kills, Kiersten Szpala handed out 38 assists and Liz Bopp amassed 12 kills for the Lady Red Devils.

Lady Mustangs fall

BOSWELL — Portage was swept at North Star, 25-12, 25-8, 25-11.

Emma Kissell led the way with 15 digs, Rhianna Benton tallied 11 digs, Kayley Sossong accounted for 10 assists and Bella Single added seven service points for the Lady Mustangs.

Lady Bulldogs rally

CLAYSBURG — Claysburg-Kimmel rallied from a 2-1 deficit to beat Bellwood-Antis (21-25, 25-12, 19-25, 25-23, 15-12) in an Inter-County Conference match.

Bailey Garver fronted the Lady Bulldogs with 12 service points, Megan Hartman had seven kills and Harleigh Cavender registered seven assists.

Sakeria Haralson fronted the Lady Blue Devils with 24 kills and 15 blocks, while Sydney Lechner accoutned for 10 points and 33 assists.

Records: Bellwood-Antis (2-4); Claysburg-Kimmel (5-2).

JV: Claysburg won 25-17, 25-20.

Tyrone defeated

SPRING MILLS — Tyrone fell to 2-2 with a 25-20, 23-25, 25-18, 25-23 loss at Penns Valley.

The Lady Eagles got 10 kills, nine service points and four aces from Makenna Bauer to go with 23 assists and seven service points from Mattie Cherry. Ebonee Rice added 12 digs and five service points.

Musser sparks JV

ALEXANDRIA — Emma Musser had a team-high 17 kills to lead Juniata Valley in a sweep of Glendale, 25-22, 29-27, 25-13.

The Lady Hornets battled back from a 19-24 deficit to win the second game. Maddy Beasom had 10 kills and Avery Taylor had six service points and 20 assists.

Olivia Reese had 23 digs and 12 kills for Glendale, while Hanna Noel had 25 digs, seven kills and one block.
