Tyrone Legion, Park Home triumph

Tyrone Legion jumped out to a 5-0 lead after three innings thanks to two RBIs from Cory Lehman in a 7-3 win over Barton’s Plumbing & Heating in the first of a best-of-three semifinal series in Kelley Federation action Thursday at Vets Field.

Rodney Shultz struck out five and walked one for Tyrone Legion. Mitch Barton scored two of Barton’s three runs.

Both teams return to action tonight at Vets Field beginning at 5:30.

Park Home scored seven runs in the third inning and marched on to a win over Martin Oil in game one of the George B. Kelley Federation best-of-three semifinal series at Vets Field.

Owen Kravetz and Ian Yon each drove in two Park Home runs in a game that was suspended Wednesday by rain after Park Home jumped out to a 7-0 lead. Yon also got the win on the mound with eight strikeouts and no walks. Kravetz hit a triple and Yon had a home run.

The series will resume tonight at Vets Field with game two scheduled to start at 8 p.m.

Adam Sinisi, Quintin Moslak, Brandon Durbin and Ryan Leonard each had two RBIs for Cumming Motors (12-7), and Dakota Chamberlain fanned six for the win.

Damian Moist was 2-for-3 for Sheetz (6-13).

Sam Carmels had three hits to lead Sheetz Altoona past Hollidaysburg at Mansion Park Thursday night in the first game of the Area 4 VFW 16-under regional playoffs.

Michael Boston, Cam Mauk Tyreke Green and Garrett Rossman each had two hits for Altoona. Rossman also earned the win on the mound with five strikeouts.

Caleb Jandora had two hits for Hollidaysburg, which will play the loser of today’s game between Altoona and Bellwood on Sunday. Altoona and Bellwood play at Mansion Park tonight at 6 p.m.
